The recommended maximum period between EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports, or Periodic Inspection & Testing) varies by the type of installation.
These maximum recommended intervals in line with regulatory guidance are:
- Owner occupied homes, 10 Years
- Care homes and nursing homes, 5 years
- Rented homes, HMOs, halls of residence, 5 years
- Shops, pubs, restaurants, offices, hotels, churches, community centres, 5 years
- Factories, warehouses, workshops, 3 years
- Agricultural or horticultural premises, 3 years
- Caravan Parks and Marinas, 1 year
By law, a landlord must obtain an EICR with a Satisfactory outcome before a residential property is let, and thereafter at a maximum 5 yearly interval.
